Please join the Commonwealth Court judges, staff, and PaCCHS members on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 5:30 p.m., for a very special lecture and reception.
The evening will begin with a lecture entitled, Who Judges the Judges?, by Akhil Reed Amar, Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University, Visiting Adjunct Professor at Columbia Law School, and recently Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. A dynamic and nationally-known speaker and scholar, Professor Amar will present this lecture based on a chapter of his book, The Constitution Today: Timeless Lessons for the Issues of Our Era. Among other timely topics, he will discuss speech by judicial candidates and express his views on the process of replenishing the United States Supreme Court. Professor Amar testified before the U.S. Senate and has been featured recently in the New York Times and on NPR regarding the latest Supreme Court confirmation.
Following the lecture, guests will gather for a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception with Professor Amar and the Commonwealth Court. This event will be held in the ornate Grand Courtroom and lobby of the Drexel University School of Law’s Kline Institute of Trial Advocacy, located in the Old Beneficial Bank Building at 12th & Chestnut Streets, a historic Philadelphia landmark that has been impeccably restored.
