104 S. 5th St, Philadelphia
The third and final exhibition of the Society’s remarkable collection of Jefferson’s materials focuses on his life-long quest to preserve Indian languages, now a mission of the Society. You’ll see amazing maps of Indian villages in the local vicinity, view an early 19th Century spreadsheet, and follow the linguistic interest in native peoples through two centuries of cultural oppression and ultimate renewal. A guided tour, lecture, and reception.
