Past Event: Quartet with Ricardo Morales, Clarinet

Miró Quartet w/ Ricardo Morales, clarinet
Wednesday, March 16th, 2016 – 8:00 PM
Perelman Theater, Kimmel Center
300 South Broad Street
Philadelphia, PA 19102

A clean sweep of the major chamber music awards—the Coleman, Fischoff, Naumburg and Cleveland Quartet awards, plus an Avery Fisher Career Grant—launched the Miró Quartet into the first rank of chamber ensembles. Today, between stops at the Concertgebouw and Madrid’s Palacio Real, the Miró partners with top-shelf colleagues like Ricardo Morales, the principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra whose “utterly natural musical grace” (New York Times) will shine in a performance of Mozart’s sublime Clarinet Quintet in A Major.

Haydn: Quartet in D Major, Op. 20, No. 4
Ginastera: Quartet No. 1, Op. 20
Mozart: Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581

The Quartet’s violist is Richard Largess, Yale ’95, where he majored in Classical Archeology and was the musical director of Red Hot and Blue.
