Yale is competing in the prestigious 2015 Solar Decathlon by designing and building a solar-powered home that is not only energy efficient but also addresses broader issues in sustainable design. Come and listen to team members explain the work done with the Yale Climate and Energy Institute and Michelle Addington, an environmental design expert at the Yale School of Architecture. A major goal was to connect the home visually, climactically, and functionally with the outside environment, to create a place with meaning rather than a space designed just to perform well. Come to find out how this is being done. The team’s advanced approaches go beyond technology and into construction techniques, using smart materials that simplify construction. A Kickstarter campaign is scheduled to fund fabrication of the Y Solar House. Be among the first to learn about this opportunity and innovative housing design.
